Deliveries of beer entries will take place the morning of contest Sunday, January 14th 2017 beginning at NOON.

All entries MUST be delivered by 2PM of same day.

Judging will consist of a panel of 5 judges that will utilize score cards to grade the beer on various areas.  Contestants will be able to obtain copies of their score cards for feedback and critiques.  You can view an example of the score card HERE .

The scores will then be tallied to result in a WINNER for each Category.  Each Category Winner will receive a prize.  (People’s Choice Award Winner will also be awarded a prize and participate in the next judging sequence)

Judges will then revisit the Category Winner Beers to vote on a GRAND PRIZE WINNER.

The GRAND PRIZE WINNER will be invited to Fiddlin’ Fish Brewing Co. to work with their in-house brewer to recreate the winning beer in large batch.  When the brew is ready, it will be offered on tap at Fiddlin’ Fish as well as Wayward Brews.

Competition Rules

This competition is open to any homebrewer 21 years of age and older.

An entry must consist of 4 (FOUR) bottles or a 64oz Growler from a single batch of beer for judges.

Beer must have the ability to be recreated in large batches in order to be considered for the Grand Prize.  This includes having a recipe/guideline that can be provided as well as all ingredients able to be utilized in mass quantity.

To be considered for People’s Choice Award, an entry must be prepared to bring enough extra beer for patrons that purchase Tasting Tickets.  (These tickets represent votes for the People’s Choice Award)

All entries must be handcrafted, containing products available to the general public and made on private equipment. (No use of commercial systems or systems on commercial brewery grounds will be allowed.)

All tastings and judging will be anonymous.

To facilitate the anonymity, we require that the bottles/growlers have no distinguishing marks that will associate the brew with an entrant.

Please read below carefully:
Upon delivery of the beer entries, pre-printed labels will be secured to bottles/growlers with rubber bands.  These labels will consist of the style of beer and the category it’s being submitted in, along with a pre-designated registration number.  Contestant names will not be attached to the vessels.

Judges will have Score Cards that they will submit after each category for tally.  Their names will not be included on Score Cards.

There will be every attempt to return bottles/growlers to entrants.

Brewers are limited to one entry per category, but may enter all categories if desired.

An entrant is one or more people submitting an entry. Any member submitting an entry MUST be involved in the actual brewing, fermenting and bottling of that entry. All members must be 21 years or older.

No judges are allowed to enter the competition.

The competition organizers are not responsible for mis-categorized entries or damaged entries, and reserve the right to combine styles for judging and/or restructure awards as needed depending upon the quantity and quality of entries.
